Story
Some legacies are inherited. Ours was reimagined.
House of Shobha began with Chelna, the third generation of a family that has been surrounded by the world of sarees for generations. It was a legacy she grew up knowing, wearing and understanding.
At some point, that legacy met a long-standing dream.
Chelna and Afrah had always spoken about building something together. Two friends, two different perspectives, one shared instinct that there had to be a way to create something of their own while staying connected to where they came from.
House of Shobha became that idea.
It started with something deeply familiar: the Indian saree. But the intention was never to simply preserve it.
We wanted to see it differently.
To take something that has been part of our culture for generations and give it a place in the lives of women today. Not reserved for weddings, festivals or occasions, but worn because you want to wear it. With jeans, with sneakers, to dinner, to work, to a celebration, or on an ordinary day that deserves a little more character.
For us, tradition is not about keeping things untouched. It is about knowing what is worth carrying forward, and having the freedom to make it your own.
That is what House of Shobha stands for.
A legacy carried forward by the third generation. A friendship turned into a shared ambition. And an Indian classic finding its place in a new generation.
This is where the story continues.
Because maybe that’s the whole point of a legacy. You don’t just inherit it. You get to add to it.
